No Impact Man

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 7:28 pm

I recently finished reading No Impact Man by Colin Beavan.  It did get me thinking about electricity and the gifts that fossil fuels have given to the human race.  I disagree with his belief that humans are destroying the planet, but I do agree with some of his methods to use items more efficiently.  Our throw away disposable culture has made so many of us immune to our energy usage.  As Ukraine and Europe face another impending shut-off of natural gas supplies which keep so many alive in comfort, I give thanks for the abundant natural gas and oil supplies in New Mexico.  I ask that our leaders nationally and at the state level continue to promote natural gas usage.  One idea I continue to recommend is a greater share of the royalty money generated from mineral development on public lands.  Currently New Mexico only receives 48 percent, while the Federal Government receives 52 percent.  I would like to see a return to the 50-50 split or preferably NM receiving 55 percent of the royalties.  This would help stimulate additional development of reserves and possibly create a more business friendly atmosphere at the state environmental level.  I am still trying to figure out the sustainability of a green job and its applicability to New Mexico’s future.

We will need all the wind, solar, hydro, fossil fuel, and nuclear power we can get our hands upon.  I recommend another book for folks concerned with energy issues, The Bottomless Well by Peter Huber.

As we approach the new year, let us all think about our impact upon others and our energy usage and give thanks.

Washington Crossing the Delaware

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 10:10 am

The Senate has spoken.  Do not give up.  Everyone please take a moment to read about Washington’s efforts on Christmas Eve at Trenton.  When others turned back, he proceeded ahead with firm determination.

As the Democrats gloat upon their temporary unconstitutional socialistic victory, we must resolve to “take Trenton” - now to be known as taking Washington, DC this next election.

May God bless everyone this Christmas season.  Pray for the common sense leadership we need.

Passion and Persistence

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 5:38 pm

Many thanks to those of you who participated in our second town hall phone call.  I appreciate your interest and will follow up with all of you.

We had a hardy crew of patriots show up at Rep. Lujan’s Farmington office to visit with him on his votes.  He of course addressed folks individually for 5 minutes at time.  I delivered a box of pink slips (messages from area constituents) to him during my time and asked him to support the dissolution resolution to control the EPA’s activities regarding GHG endangerement.  I also asked him about his votes against small business with regard to a couple of amendments on the Wall Street reform bill.  He just doesn’t understand the difference between small business farmers and natural gas producers and wall street bankers and speculators.  He is out of touch with New Mexico’s values.

I want to encourage everyone to consider donating blood this Christmas season.  The blood banks are in short supply and demand during this time of year is quite high.

I want to commit to you that I have the passion and the persistence to defeat Rep. Lujan.  We will be kicking off the new year in high gear with some upgrades to our website and a very active fund raising effort, along with door to door efforts across the District.  God bless each of you and your families.  Please consider putting a copy of the Constitution in everyone’s stocking to help educate them.  May the Lord bless you and keep you safe in your travels.

House Resolution of Disapproval - EPA CO2 Endangerment

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 12:20 pm

I support Rep. Jerry Moran’s effort to stop the EPA from regulating supposed Green House Gases including CO2.  Where does Rep. Lujan stand on this?  He supports growing the EPA budget and their oversight of our everyday lives.  Nonsense.  Tell Lujan to restrain the EPA - do not feed this monster with your tax dollars.

Mullins calls for Tea Party Town Hall at Luján Office Tuesday

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 2:44 am

I hope to see everyone there.

(I am also donating blood today. Consider dropping in and giving life to others. United Blood Services, 475 East 20th Street, Farmington, across from Smith’s grocery.)

Tom Mullins, candidate for New Mexico’s 3rd District Congressional seat called for all San Juan County residents, San Juan County 912 members, Farmington Tea Party members, and concerned taxpayers to visit Representative Lujan at his office from 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, December 22nd in Farmington at City Hall.

Representative Luján has not visited San Juan County and he has avoided speaking to his constituents in this area who disagree with many of his views.  Mullins who is running to replace Luján stated, “Representative Luján has been ignoring San Juan County and our many concerns with his performance.  In the spirit of Christmas; Let’s welcome him and bring him a lump of San Juan County coal for his stocking and a pink slip for his performance or lack there of.”

Mullins, an Engineer and one of the original organizers of the Farmington Tea Party events held earlier in the year is against government “stimulus” spending, and “stimulus 2”, passed last week, an amendment to HR 2847 which will cost taxpayers 155 Billion dollars.  Representative Luján has voted for greater governmental control of health care, energy rationing via Cap and Trade regulation, as well as numerous federal spending measures that have added to our national debt.  “New Mexico needs jobs, not the illusionary green ones, but private sector jobs that allow us to pay our bills, heat our homes, and put food on the table.” said Mullins.

Candidate Mullins said, “It amazes me that neither Luján nor his staff members have attended the business incubator nor economic development forums locally or even in Santa Fe, but now he is stumping for jobs in the area.  I think he belongs on the unemployment line.”

Information from Representative Luján’s website:

What: Open Office Hours
When: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 11:00 to 1:00 pm (MT)
Where: Rep. Luján’s Farmington District Office, Executive Conference Room, 800 Municipal Drive, Farmington, NM

Mullins plans deliver a box of “Pink Slips” that were messages written earlier this year by residents to Representative Luján and speak with voters at Noon.  Tom reminds New Mexicans to help our neighbors, donate to ECHO Food Bank, give blood at United Blood Services, and stand up for our values.  “We can be silent no more regarding the irresponsible performance of our federal government.  Together we can return common sense to Washington.”

Rio Rancho - Sandoval County

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 11:30 am

Another great day visiting folks in Rio Rancho, culminating with the Sandoval County Republican Party Christmas Celebration at Soul Rio.  A wonderful turkey dinner with all the fix’ins and wonderful meeting with Americans dedicated to improving our country.

I have to admit that after reading legislation proposed in Washington that I did not answer too well on the written Christmas song quiz.  It was wonderful to go through that and shift our minds to lighter happier materials.  My hat is off to everyone involved.  Thank you.

Santa Fe - Celebrations

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 10:50 pm

A wonderful day today meeting folks at the Santa Fe incubator celebration followed by the Republican Party of Santa Fe County and Santa Fe Federated Republican Women holiday party.  Representative Lujan continues his record of voting against private enterprise while expanding the level of Federal spending.

As referenced by the Kauffman Foundation, small businesses are the job creators in our country.  Adding mandates and regulatory burdens will only add to job losses.  Not what New Mexico needs.  As an incubator center graduate from the San Juan Enterprise Center, I have participated first hand in the incubator magic that helps create new businesses.  We need to create an environment where the private sector is willing to invest capital and employ folks - not another handout that has been mortgaged upon our children’s future.

It is past time for Representative Lujan to join the unemployment line.  I need your help to bring together grassroots Americans to return common sense to Washington.

Pray for Tiger Woods and his wife and family.  The media is relentless in their appetite of destruction.

Town Hall Phone Call - Thank You

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 9:09 pm

Thank you everyone for your time this evening on the townhall phone call.  I appreciate your time and I will follow-up with those who did not get a chance to ask their question directly.

We will be doing more calls in the coming weeks to listen to your concerns and earn your vote.  God bless everyone and have a Merry Christmas and safe holiday with your family and friends.

Parades - FMN, Clovis, Rio Rancho

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 4:01 pm

It was great to meet with so many of you during our recent travels around the district.  We received a warm response in Farmington on a very chilly night.  We next traveled to Clovis and warmed up a few degrees.  Brrrr.  December 12th, we ran out of literature and candy at the Rio Rancho parade.  Many thanks to all the volunteers, extra special thanks to Brandon and Mark.

That was a fun parade.  No Obamacare, No Cap & Tax, No Socialism.  Know Freedom!

Bill of Rights - Dec 15th 1791

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 3:55 pm

218 years ago, the Bill of Rights (1st 10 Amendments) was effectively ratified.  We must continue our educational efforts with every voter (young & old), to rekindle the spirit of individualism that has made America so unique and wonderful.

The 9th and 10th Amendments are trounced upon daily by our sitting non-responsive representative Lujan.  As Ronald Reagan so eloquently stated, “A government that is big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take everything you have.”

November 2009 we added another 120 Billion in debt.  Amazing.  It is time for common sense to return.  I hope you will join me in my efforts to return sanity to Washington, DC.  Your volunteer help is appreciated.
