Bean Day Celebration Parade

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 9:57 pm

Wagon Mound New Mexico was political central today with both myself, my opponent, and other politicos attending the 100th year celebration parade and activities along main street today.  A tremendous turnout and a very welcome response from many folks there.  Former residents also traveled from around the country and many family reunions took place today as well.

Rep Lujan and I briefly spoke and I was pleased to hear him say that we will be debating in the near future.  I have missed him at two (2) prior candidate forums.  New Mexicans need to have a Congressman who will come out in public, not just at parades, but at public town forums and in front of the media.  I look forward to these remaining days in the campaign discussing the issues and the solutions for our economic challenges.  Rep. Lujan is in favor of more government and taxes.  I believe in the power of each individual New Mexican and releasing the power of the private sector from the burdens imposed by oppressive regulation.

I enjoyed meeting more Sandoval County residents at the Bernalillo Wine Festival.  What tremendous weather we have had this Labor Day Holiday weekend around our state.  We are truly blessed.  To the many volunteers who traveled today to help me.  To those walking precincts around the district.  Thank you for your help.

Los Alamos

It was a pleasure to spend this weekend in Los Alamos.  The Los Alamos GOP celebrated the opening of their Headquarters and I enjoyed Saturday mass in White Rock.  The Sheriff’s Posse Breakfast had four (4) different kinds of pancakes!  It was wonderful.  I enjoyed meeting so many of you and look forward to returning soon.

The Santo Domingo (Kewa) Arts and Craft fair on Sunday was very well attended.  The weather was wonderful.  New Mexicans remain committed to changing away from the entitled leadership of the past.

Happy Labor Day.  Happy Bean Day!  I am on my way to Wagon Mound.

Raton - Part 2

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 10:00 pm
I really enjoyed having breakfast with volunteers followed by speaking on KRTN radio in Raton. I enjoyed my stops throughout the community, including my discussions regarding economic development and the Racino project which has the opportunity to bring needed jobs to Colfax county.

I listened to the President’s speech this evening as I was driving back to Rio Rancho. I want to thank all of our military men and women, active duty and veterans. Thank you for your sacrifice such that I and my children can live in this wonderful country. We must discuss solutions to our situation in Afghanistan and the nuclear weapon ambitions of Iran.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you as your next Congressman. I continue to need your prayers and support.

I enjoyed a wonderful meet and greet yesterday here in Colfax county. I was surprised that the print version of the ABQ Journal does not reach town until about 1:30 pm. That demonstrates the geographic size of the 3rd district.

I understand the Rep. Lujan is following me in my travels through Springer and into Colfax county today. I look forward to debating Rep. Lujan at any time in any location before any audience. Some have asked, will you have any “debates”. The short answer is yes. October the 9th and October 24th is what we have on my schedule.

Thank you again for your support and volunteers, please keep up the hard work, my name ID continues to improve across the district.

Polling 63 Days to go !

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 12:00 pm
Well. Surprise. The ABQ Journal has polled the Governor, CD 1, CD 2, and the Attorney General’s race. This race for the 3rd Congressional district is considered a strong Democrat seat. So, I don’t know how I feel at this moment. Disappointed that since they polled state-wide, they did not report their results.

To cut to the chase. Our internal polling conducted August 19th, shows us “neck and neck” in this race with 15 percent undecided. We are redoubling our efforts on the campaign and with your help we will surprise the ruling class progressives in this district. We may release the top-line of this poll at a later date once more public polling becomes available.

To my supporters and to the voters. Keep the faith. No news is good news at the present time.

A Beautiful Sunday!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom Mullins @ 8:00 pm

New Mexico is a gorgeous place to live. I enjoyed meeting many Rio Rancho residents at the St. Thomas Parish Picnic this afternoon. Our Lord has blessed us with life to enjoy ourselves and our families by sharing and caring for one another. As I listen to the many concerns of voters around the District in the days ahead, I ask that volunteers redouble their efforts to spead the message of Constiutionally Limited governance and methodically continue to engage voters. I will need every vote in this election, and your assistance will help me deliver responsible representation to Washington.

Progress

Our campaign continues to make progress. I enjoyed the ACI-WIPP Candidate forum on Thursday and was very disappointed in that Rep. Lujan did not show up to speak with this important group of business professionals in New Mexico. I was surprised to see Rep. Lujan at the grand opening of the Rio Rancho CNM educational facility building, since I thought he was out of town. The New Mexico Cattle Growers hosted a candidate forum Thursday evening, where I expected to see Rep. Lujan, but again he was unavailable.

The voters can clearly see the difference between our campaigns. I am open and will continue to engage the public. My opponent continues to hold back room private meetings and not answer the questions of the voters.

Saturday, I had the pleasure of canvassing Rio Rancho events where I continued to meet New Mexicans frustrated with the lack of representation and who believe our country needs to get on the right track. I attended the Grand Opening of the Sandoval County GOP Election Headquarters, 1207 Golf Course Rd. Thank you volunteers! The evening “Taking Back the House” event organized by Robert & Vicki Perea for Jon Barela, Steve Pearce, & myself was wonderful. Thank you and everyone who worked so hard putting this event together.

Unfortunately today’s edition of the ABQ Journal did not publish the poll results for our race. Susana Martinez was shown to hold a 6 percent lead. Our internal polling shows that I am in a dead even race with Lujan. Any way in which you analyze the 2010 election, the races are going to be close. I remain the underdog, up against a progressive ruling party politician. I will keep working toward victory for you every single day. God Bless You this Sunday

Immigration - Land Mines

Filed under: Uncategorized, Immigration — Tom Mullins @ 11:41 pm
Wow! The media has definitely taken this ball and run with it. Some have said that I effectively stepped on a land mine discussing this topic bluntly.

A simple radio interview in Las Vegas, New Mexico has generated a ton of press, e-mails, and opinion pieces. Many of them out of context. This Article (http://www.nmfbihop.com/diary/4021/tom-mullins-landminesontheborder-proposal) has some of the detail and audio of my original radio interview which covered a number of subjects including securing our borders. As I have stated, I am not advocating the use of land mines on the Mexico border, nor the Canadian border for that matter. We need to come up with non-lethal effective border security solutions. Americans expect our Federal Government to secure our border.

Ben Ray Lujan, Jr. has now jumped to accusing me of killing women and children. How is that fund raiser going for you Ben? Unbelievable that you would stoop to that level. Border security is not a laughing or joking matter. Criminals are crossing the border daily. Lujan believes in Amnesty for Illegal Aliens. He undoubtedly supports the current New Mexico policy of driver’s liscenses for Illegals which will cause legal New Mexicans to use a passport when they fly commercial aviation. This policy has made New Mexico the laughing stock of the United States. How will Congress address this new FAA requirement?

I believe a Congressman’s job is to hold the Federal Government accountable to the people of their district. The good citizens of the third district would like to combat the illegal drug war, crime, and violence, which is associated with illegal immigration. ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) needs the resources to effectively perform their job. Ben Ray Lujan, Jr. supports the Adminstration’s policies which have included halting construction of the border fence and not allowing our border patrol agents to work within designated wilderness areas. Yes, I am a Christian. Yes, I have compassion. But I also believe our border must be adequately protected and as your next Congressman, i will address this border security, not run away it or turn a blind eye toward it as many others have.

When Rep. Lujan, Jr. mentions “comprehensive immigration reform” does he mean amnesty? I believe he does. Maybe the news media will do an audio check on his prior statements as they have done mine? This is going to be an interesting election with 139 days until November 2nd.
